Box Office - Vidyut Jammwal’s Commando 3 does well over the weekend, expect Commando 4 announcement soon enough

Image
There is good news indeed for Vidyut Jammwal’s Commando 3 . The film has seen the best weekend amongst all the three instalments of the Commando franchise that have been released so far. While Commando had collected Rs. 11.18 crores in its first three days, Commando 2 went further up to bring in Rs. 15.74 crores. Now Commando 3 has further upped the ante with a weekend score of Rs. 18.33 crores, hence taking the franchise further. The film collected Rs. 7.95 crores more on Sunday and the jump over Saturday is quite good. The fact that the footfalls are increasing is a good enough indication for the Vidyut Jammwal starrer. The growth so far has pretty much established now that Commando 3 would emerge as the biggest grosser in the franchise. Of course, a lifetime in excess of Rs. 50 crores would be most ideal. The manner in which the film is going, it would cover a distance good enough for the makers to go ahead and announce Command 4 soon enough. from Box Office Special Feat...

Commando 3 Box Office Collections Day 2: The Vidyut Jammwal starrer jumps on Saturday

Image
Vidyut Jammwal starrer Commando 3 showed some growth on Saturday as Rs. 5.64 crores came in. This is decent trending when compared with Rs. 4.74 crores that has been accumulated on Friday. Of course there is a lot of capacity available to be utilised (2541 screens) but then the franchise has its own limitations and hence the numbers that are coming in are good enough. The film currently stands at Rs. 10.38 crores and there is more growth expected today. Now it is to be seen if this growth is good enough to help the Vipul Shah production come close to the Rs. 17 crores mark before the weekend is through. If that indeed turns out to be the case, the stage would be set for Commando 3 to further consolidate over the weekdays. As such, the film needs to earn really well over the weekend since coming Friday sees the arrival of biggie like Panipat and much anticipated Pati Patni Aur Woh . Between the two films, a large number of screens would be allocated which means Commando 3 would n...

Bala Box Office Collections: The Ayushmann Khurrana starrer film makes him the only actor other than Akshay Kumar to have three superhits in 2019

Image
Bala continued to do good business at the box office despite playing at very limited number of screens. On Friday it held on reasonably well to collect Rs. 0.65 crores. However, Saturday has been truly impressive with numbers more than doubling up. The Ayushmann Khurranna, Yami Gautam, and Bhumi Pednekar starrer brought in Rs. 1.35 crores more, hence setting up the stage for a good weekend all over again. The film should jump further today and anything around Rs. 1.75 crores would also be a very good number for the Dinesh Vijan production. So far, the film has already collected Rs. 111.88 crores and while Rs. 113.50 crores should be crossed by the end of weekend, the journey towards the Rs. 120 crores lifetime has now become easier due to the jump been evidenced. Other than Akshay Kumar who has already seen three releases this year and would see a fourth one soon, Ayushmann Khurranna is the only leading man with three releases to his name in 2019, and all of these are hits or super...

Commando 3 Box Office Collections: Vidyut Jammwal starrer opens better than Commando, lesser than Commando 2

Image
It was predicted in this column that Commando 3 would take an opening in the range of Rs. 3-4 crores. As it turned out, the collections were a bit better as Rs. 4.74 crores came in. Though the morning shows were not really up to the mark, footfalls started getting a bit better by afternoon which ensured that the first day would emerge as reasonably decent. The film has seen a widespread release for itself as it has released at 2456 screens. That’s quite good actually for a franchise where the lifetime number of the first two installments was in the range of Rs. 25 crores each. However, with no other movie in the running, there was a platform available for a widespread arrival of Commando 3 . Considering that, the collections could have been better. However, still the start is there, which means one can expect a decent weekend if jumps are evidenced on Saturday and Sunday. While Commando had brought in Rs. 3.69 crores on its first day, Commando 2 had done better at Rs. 5.15 crores....

Box Office - Bala stays good in third week, eyes Rs. 120 crores lifetime

Image
Bala has kept its super hit run intact over the week gone by. The collections stayed on to be good despite very low count of screens. They were in fact better than Marjaavaan , which released a week later, and not much behind Pagalpanti (at least at multiplexes), which was the new release of the week. On Wednesday and Thursday, the film collected Rs. 0.90 crores and Rs. 0.91 crores respectively, hence indicating a good hold during the weekdays as well. Even on Monday and Tuesday, the film had collected Rs. 1.05 crores and Rs. 1.15 crores respectively, which pretty much signifies how the target audiences have continued to give the Ayushmann Khurranna a demo. So far, the Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik film has accumulated Rs. 109.88 crores. This week arrives Commando 3 , which means screens would be further reduced. Though it is pretty much assured that the film would manage to go past the Rs. 115 crores, it would be interesting to see if Rs. 120 crores lifetime total is achieved as ...
