Ban on Chinese apps: How it may impact TikTok, other companies

The government has banned 59 Chinese apps in "a targeted move to ensure the safety and sovereignty of Indian cyberspace." The IT ministry said the apps listed, including ByteDance’s TikTok, WeChat, and others owned by Tencent, Alibaba, Baidu and Xiaomi "engaged in activities prejudicial to sovereignty and integrity of India, defence of India, security of state and public order."

Bollywood actor Dia Mirzam, who is a model-turned-actor, made her debut in the films with the 2001 film Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein starring alongside R Madhavan and Saif Ali Khan. She witnessed major ups and downs in her career. In her latest interview, she opened up about her early days in the film industry, rampant sexism, and how things have changed over the years. Speaking to Brut India, Dia Mirza said, “People were writing, thinking and making sexist cinema, and I was a part of these stories.
