Faulty electrics face ‘heavy penalty’

Amid recurring incidents of fire on electric two-wheelers, the government on Thursday warned companies about imposing heavy fines if they failed to take immediate remedial action, such as recalling the faulty models. This is the first instance of a clear direction to the industry to sort out the security hazard immediately as it has claimed lives and seen many vehicles get burnt, possibly due to battery and other architectural defects.
