EXCLUSIVE pictures: Sam Manekshaw once visited Durand Cup football tournament which Vicky Kaushal visited yesterday
Vicky Kaushal is currently riding high on the success of his romantic drama Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, which starred Sara Ali Khan opposite him. One of his upcoming films is the keenly-awaited biopic on Field Marshal Sam Makehshaw, who was the Chief of the Army Staff during India’s war with Pakistan in 1971, titled Sam Bahadur.
Vicky paid a visit to the iconic Durand Cup 2023 derby match between Mohun Bagan and East Bengal FC in Kolkata and was seen having a gala time. East Bengal won the match for the first time in four years. The tournament is the biggest Derby in India and the oldest football tournament in Aisa. It is organized by the Indian Army.
Co-incidentally, Sam Manekshaw had also once visited the Durand Cup decades ago. Bollywood Hungama has got hold of exclusive pictures of him visiting the tournament. The black and white pictures show Manekshaw taking a walk around the ground with the organizers and later posing with the players after the completion of the match.
Coming back to Sam Bahadur, the film also stars Sanya Malhotra and Fatima Sana Shaikh in pivotal roles.
Vicky completed shooting for the film in March this year. To mark the occasion and to highlight the importance of the film, he had written on social media, “Gratitude gratitude and only gratitude... to be a part of this process to depict the life of a true legend, to be a part of this team which truly gave it their all.
